WCRIS is one of 20 organizations supporting a proposed bill that aids the Wisconsin Health and Educational Facilities Authority (WHEFA), which provides tax-exempt financing to non-profit organizations for expansion projects and capital improvements. Other supporting organizations include non-profit hospitals, long-term care and elderly housing providers and higher education institutions. WHEFA sought out WCRIS’ support this fall.
The proposed bill would allow WHEFA to issue tax-exempt bonds to non-profit organizations to cover operational costs, in addition to capital improvements. This would expand WHEFA’s operations to better help Wisconsin non-profits. Though the organization is written in state statute, its bonds aren’t funded by state money.
Several WCRIS schools have taken advantage of WHEFA’s tax-exempt financing. We’re proud to support its efforts to benefit our members. Learn more here.
