St. Dennis Catholic School, hosted Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel’s press conference on the new School Safety Grant Initiative. Students from St. Dennis and WCRIS Staff stood by Attorney General Schimel as he addressed the press about the grant program.
The press conference started with St. Dennis Catholic School Principal Matt Beisser welcoming everyone and addressing how school safety is not a private or public school matter, but a matter of protecting students. Attorney General Schimel addressed the location of the press conference, stating that the location was a sign of transparency to show that the grant program is for private and public schools.
“We owe our children and communities the promise of a safe school environment,” said Attorney General Schimel in his opening remarks.
Attorney General Schimel thanked WCRIS and all the other supporting organizations for their efforts in the creation of the grant. He went on to finish the press conference by addressing how the grant is structured and what it means for schools when applying. The deadline for applications is June 8, 2018.
