The final countdown to the General election for DPI Superintendent has started and voting will begin at 7 a.m. tomorrow, April 6.
After a February primary, two candidates emerged. Deb Kerr and Jill Underly will be going head-to-head on the ballot tomorrow. Parental choice has been a big talking point in the race, although the DPI Superintendent does NOT have the power to end the state choice programs. Deb Kerr supports school choice; Jill Underly opposes school choice. You can learn more about Kerr here and Underly here.
Voter turn-out is expected to be light so the candidate who can motivate people to go to the polls will have an advantage. Every vote will count. Remind your friends and families to vote!
There is more on Tuesday’’s ballot than just the State Superintendent’s race. Many local communities will have elections for school board members, county and city officials, sheriffs, judges, and school referendums, which could have an impact on your district’s overall spending, including transportation for your students.
