While the state’s four voucher programs have been a financial lifesaver for many students and their schools, administrators tell WCRIS they need a whip and a chair to tame the beast of state bureaucracy.
So, in response to demands by its members, WCRIS has developed new resources for schools navigating a choice program or the Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP).
The newly updated WCRIS 2nd Edition Choice Handbook gives an overview of the state’s three parental choice programs and provides insights into the myriad regulations governing them.
And, the first-ever edition of the WCRIS SNSP Handbook helps private schools navigate this complicated program and understand how it interacts with other federal education programs and special education services from a local public school district.
Both are designed as primers, but they offer so much more. Filled with tips and tricks from long-participating schools, both guidebooks provide a one-stop-shop for those scaling these confusing programs.
The Handbooks outline — all in one place — the necessary requirements and considerations that schools will need to understand prior to joining. They give access to the location of many relevant and necessary state rules, which are hard to find or buried deep in the DPI website.
The handbooks are designed to onboard new schools, new principals or Choice administrators, pastors, and oversight boards to the program. It’s possible to join more than one Choice program at a time, and the SNSP, as well.
You can’t ask what you don’t know. Navigating the choice program via the DPI website is a challenge. These guidebooks are designed to give schools and administrators a clear overview that will help clarify the myriad hurdles they face in the Choice/SNSP journey.
WCRIS members pay only $50 per handbook. Non-members pay $250 each. Order here.
