The DPI issued the statutorily-mandated annual state report cards this week, prompting researchers to dig into the results of public versus private schools.
The analysis was necessary because DPI remained silent on public results compared to private schools, arguing that of the 376 Choice schools that are required to report statewide, 240 did not have enough information. State law allows parents to opt their children out of testing. Many did because of the chaotic academics created by the Pandemic.
The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) claims that private schools’ proficiency rates were almost double those of Milwaukee Public Schools. The WILL report is here.
