Performing background checks promotes a safe environment for your school and should be considered a hiring best practice. This is especially important as your school caters to one of our most vulnerable populations, children. WCRIS encourages schools to perform background checks on new hires, current staff and any volunteers who may be in contact with your students.
Many K-12 accreditation agencies require proof of employee background checks. Furthermore, if your school is enrolled in or intends to enroll in the Special Needs Scholarship Program, you are required to administer background checks to all employees and volunteers who will be involved with students.
