Schools that use the Wisconsin Immunization Registry through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) have to renew their accounts for the 2024-25 school year. The renewal window is open from April 1 to August 1.
Whether or not the current account holder (typically the principal) is returning to your school next year, DHS still requires action for next year.
The instructions below are from an email sent to WCRIS from DHS on April 4, 2024:
All schools using WIR must renew their account before the 2024–2025 school year. Based on feedback received from schools, the renewal window is opening earlier this year to accommodate those who may want to renew before the end of the school year rush. Therefore, the WIR school renewal window will be available from April 1, 2024 through August 1, 2024.
Only the main account holder from each school is allowed to complete the renewal process. The main account holder should be the principal or other head of the school (for example, dean).
There are two ways a school can renew depending upon the current status of their account:
-
- If the registered school account holder, typically the principal, plans to return as the head of the school in the upcoming school year, they must change the account password during the account renewal window to complete the renewal process.
- Log in to WIR, select Change My Password under the Manage My Account section of the menu on the left side of the screen, and follow the instructions. No paperwork submission is required.

- If the principal for the 2024–2025 school year is not the registered account holder, they must complete the full renewal process. This involves:
- Updating the school renewal form in WIR
- Signing the approval form
- Obtaining new login credentials.
- If the registered school account holder, typically the principal, plans to return as the head of the school in the upcoming school year, they must change the account password during the account renewal window to complete the renewal process.
The WIR Help Desk is available to guide heads of schools through this process.
Any passwords changed before April 1, 2024 will not count towards the 2024–2025 school renewal. If the password was recently changed, it must be updated again during the renewal window for the school to be considered compliant.
