Even in the wake of budget cuts to the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS), ALL schools still have to comply with state law by making their annual school safety submissions by Jan. 1.
For the upcoming submission cycle, the OSS has updated its platform from Sharefile to SharePoint. Schools will be uploading their submissions to the new SharePoint platform for the 2024 deadline.
According to correspondence from the OSS to WCRIS this week, current Sharefile users were sent an email with instructions to verify their new SharePoint account. Account verification is needed to access the submission folders. Check out this FAQ and these tutorial videos to help you.
If your school’s contact didn’t get an email or you need to request changes for folder access and points of contact, email schoolsafety@doj.state.wi.us.
Don’t forget safety submissions are due each year on Jan. 1 for all schools. If you have questions about the requirement, contact the WCRIS office.
Although the Legislature recently cut funding from the OSS, the DOJ has reallocated funds to keep the OSS operable through 2024.
