Goodbye Tricia Collins
In the wake of a new state school superintendent, and staff turn-over triggered by Dr. Tony Evers moving up to the East Wing of the Capitol, the DPI is restructuring some departments and divisions.
School Management Services will be renamed the Parental Education Options Team. It will be in the Division for Finance and Management. It will be focused on the various public and private education options administered by DPI—Open Enrollment, the Parental Choice and Special Needs Scholarship Programs, charter schools, and homeschooling—as well as school board operations and district reorganization.
Applications for the director of that team are closed and recruitment is underway.
Long-time DPI school choice expert Tricia Collins, who was an excellent and helpful leader of the School Management Services Team, has transferred to more responsibility at another state agency. We thank her for her service and wish her well. Tricia was always helpful and fair in her dealings with WCRIS and our schools. She leaves big shoes to fill.
The staffing changes and vacancies make getting information from the DPI slower than usual, so don’t be surprised when that happens.
