Today, Gov. Evers announced a list 155 of school districts that will receive federal GEER funds apportioned to Wisconsin as part of the CARES Act signed by Congress in April.
The details of how the money will be spent are to be worked out with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI). Federal law requires that any public school district that receives GEER funds must provide equitable services to students and teachers in non-public schools located in the LEA after timely and meaningful consultation.
As reported by WCRIS here last month, the Governor has said GEER funds will be shared with public districts most impacted by the Coronavirus that lack access to computers and internet and have low student test scores. A map of affected areas can be found here.
Stay tuned to Current Events for more details, as they are made available by the DPI.
