The application period for the 2021 Herb Kohl Educational Awards for students, teachers and principals is now open. Like last year, the process is entirely digital and must be completed online.
Current private high school seniors, who are Wisconsin residents, are eligible to apply for a $10,000 Student Excellence scholarship to the college of their choice. This is a highly competitive scholarship with only 14 private school students winning statewide. The criteria for applying can be found here. The deadline is 5 p.m. November 17. The student application can be found here.
In addition, fourteen teachers and three principal winners will be selected to each receive $6,000 for themselves and another $6,000 for each of their schools. One of the 14 teacher fellowship winners will be selected as the 2021 Wisconsin Private School Teacher of the Year and receive an additional $3,000 for themselves.
Be advised, that teachers and principals can only apply if they are nominated first. This is a great way for students, parents, fellow teachers and principals, and church members to recognize and honor a teacher or principal. To nominate a teacher or principal click here. Teacher and principal nominations are due by 5 pm on October 13.
Once nominated, the actual teacher applications are due by 5 pm on November 17. Principal applications are due by 5 pm on January 5, 2020. The applications are posted here. But, again, applications can only be completed by those who have been nominated.
