WCRIS Teachers and Staff Attend Bill Signing
Thanks to WCRIS members’ hard work, Gov. Walker signed SB711 this morning, which recognizes private school teaching experience for the state’s new life license. SB-711 is now Act 206. A full link to the Act 206 can be found here.
Through WCRIS advocacy our members sent 1,000 emails to state lawmakers in less than two weeks.
“The legislative session was winding down and without this grassroots action from private school educators across Wisconsin, an amendment to the bill that solved our problems would not have passed,” said Sharon Schmeling, WCRIS Executive Director.
There to represent WCRIS teachers was Kohl teacher Sue Loof of St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Jefferson; Dr. Chris Cody of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod – South Wisconsin District, and WCRIS Board President; and Schmeling.
