Grants are available for community-wide youth drug abuse prevention efforts and private schools are eligible to participate. The federal Drug-Free Communities Program (DFC) has opened up its 2019 grant application process.
Schools should check with their local county or city government health departments or local community hospital to see if they are applying for a grant and tell them you would like to participate. Invite them to look at the application.
There will be an informational webinar on May 30 at 3 pm for educators to learn more about the program and ways the grants are being used across the country. Many rural and urban health departments, county agencies and CESAs receive money from these grants and your school could benefit from their activities.
