Considering upgrading your middle school math curriculum next school year?
According to a recent efficacy study, the Desmos Math curriculum for 6th, 7th and 8th grades significantly improves math achievement among middle school students.
The study, conducted by the independent research agency WestEd, analyzed data from nearly 900 schools in nine states. The results showed that students who used the Desmos Math curriculum had higher math achievement levels than those who did not.
Based on Illustrative Mathematics®, Desmos Math 6 – Algebra 1 is a year-long, middle school math curriculum delivered through the Desmos Classroom platform. The curriculum is aligned with national standards, customizable and easy-to-use, featuring a blend of print and digital learning activities. The Desmos Classroom learning platform emphasizes conceptual understanding and application in a student-centered learning environment.
Dan Meyer, Dean of Research at Desmos Classroom, said, “We believe that all students – and teachers – deserve to experience engagement, challenge, and success in their math classrooms every day, and we are excited to build out a comprehensive K-12 curriculum to make that vision a reality in more and more classrooms.”
