A test emergency alert will be sent to all personal mobile phones nationwide on Wednesday, Oct. 4 around 1:20 p.m. CST from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The test message, accompanied by an alert tone and vibration, will display on all cell phones that are switched on and connected to a wireless provider that participates in the federal government’s alert system. A test message will also play over radios and TVs around the same time.
If there is widespread severe weather on Oct. 4, FEMA will reschedule the test for Oct. 11 to avoid confusion.
