Years ago, the Archdiocese combined St. Cecilia Parish of Thiensville and St. James Parish of Mequon into Lumen Christi Parish. However, both campuses continued to be used for various functions serving the combined parish. To create operational efficiencies and address the future needs of the growing student and parish population, Lumen Christi expanded its Mequon campus school.
The old gym, which was attached to the worship structure, was converted to offices and community rooms by constructing a 2nd floor within the gym shell. The existing parish office, which was attached to the school, was converted to a new school entrance and offices. A new gym addition, including four specialty classrooms for music, art, and science activities, were added to the school structure. As part of the master planning process, the scope of the project also included six additional classrooms and renovating all the existing school space. See photos here.
