All choice school staff have to complete the DPI’s mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect training within six months after hire and at least every five years after, according to state law.
School staff must complete the DPI’s training to fulfill the requirement. Training created by schools’ jurisdictions or other organizations doesn’t count.
Schools can host a local in-service training event using the DPI’s materials or individually complete the DPI’s online training module, which is estimated to take two hours. The department just improved its resources earlier this month to incorporate the best training and information available based on current research.
WCRIS recommends reviewing the content with all of your staff this school year to stay updated on new information and best practices.
