Nearly 20 WCRIS member schools will be awarded Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants, according to a Wednesday announcement from the DPI. More than $6 million will be awarded to 57 statewide recipients.

The competitive grant program aims to support students by helping schools provide enriching academic opportunities outside of school hours. In the 2022-23 school year, nearly 19,000 Wisconsin students were impacted by the program. The grants are available to schools that serve a significant number of economically disadvantaged children.
