A list of students’ names, grades and addresses who are eligible for district transportation is due to the school board(s) in your attendance area by this Wednesday, May 15.

Because the requirement is intended to help districts budget and plan for next school year, not to exclude future students, WCRIS recommends writing at the end of this list: “Any student who applies for admission on or after May 15, 2024.” This should cover other transportation-eligible students who have not yet enrolled for the 2024-25 school year. Learn more here.

It’s up to the school board if it would like to extend the May 15 deadline. If you have further questions, please contact WCRIS.

Further, WCRIS has recently fielded questions regarding private schools purchasing and operating their own school buses. The Wisconsin Legislative Council released a Legislative Brief in April that quickly summarizes school bus operation requirements. Read it here.
